Toy car company’s stunt driver sets world record jump of 332, feet (101.2m).
Tanner Foust, Team Hot Wheels Yellow Driver, has broken the world record in distance jumping at the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
The video below shows the “flight”, which starts on an orange ramp at 10 stories high. Foust then takes his unique vehicle to jump a distance totaling 332 feet (101.2 metres), breaking the previous record by 31ft (9.45m). The suspension system in this vehicle is impressive and allows for a flawless landing.
Foust stated that as a child playing Hot Wheels, I had hoped to experience something so outrageous as a V-Drop track set. Today it is a reality.”
Foust hosts Top Gear USA. He is also a three-time X Games winner and two-time Formula Drift Champion. He has been a professional stunt driver for the films Bourne Ultimatum and Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift.
This stunt was part of celebrations marking the 100th anniversary Of Indy 500 Race.
