You can’t get the midsize SUV with three rows of seating on this side.
Hyundai had intended to sell the new Santa Fe in the United States with three rows of seating (XL model), but it never happened. The Palisade is a larger SUV made by the Asian brand. The Santa Fe is also sold in other regions of the globe, where it has seven seats and a diesel engine. This model has been in production since its launch in 2018.
South Korea is diversifying the lineup with the introduction of a six-seat version that includes captain’s chairs in the second row. The hybrid powertrain is available with the new Santa Fe flavor. Hyundai’s 2022MY was launched in the US several month ago. It comes with a $32,300 XRT trim that is positioned between the Limited and SEL trim levels to offer a rugged option.
You may remember that Hyundai was quick to give the Santa Fe a facelift, considering that the updated model debuted in June 2020. This is less than two-and-a half years after the Mk4 was first unveiled. At this time, it’s not clear if that will mean a shorter life cycle than usual or if the practical family SUV will continue to follow the industry standard at 7-8 years.
Revisions are underway for the larger Palisade, which will be given a mid-cycle facelift by 2022. In India, the Alcazar, a seven-seat SUV, will also get a facelift. The Ioniq 7 is a fully-electric SUV that will also have three rows of seating and will arrive in 2024. It was recently shown off by Seven. The equivalent EV9 will be available from Kia, while Genesis luxury brand is rumored have a GV90 in the works.
