But after a long day of reviewing cars, especially around the Detroit office, nothing beats the massaged seats in an S-Class Mercedes. We’re not the only ones who feel this way. What’s inside YouTube has a whole 11-minute video dedicated to the subject. The catch is that they don’t just take the seats apart, but actually sit in them.

Know that violence did not occur in a random Mercedes-Benz seat before the hate mail begins coming to us or the YouTubers. A modern S-Class S-Class seat with climate control and massaging functions is certainly very expensive. It’s also not cheap to fly to Stuttgart Mercedes-Benz headquarters, but that’s what this video’s host did. The automaker invited you to have a closer look at the modern S-Class seating.

This delicate operation involved the driver’s seats of a Merc test vehicle. With a multitude of seats visible in the background, we are sure nobody is too upset about the cannibalization. We still feel tingles as we watch the razor-sharp blade slice through such a flawless leather-wrapped surface. We get tingles just by thinking about it.

However, beneath the leather we can see all sorts of equipment that makes it seem like we are not paying attention to what is going on at our bottoms. It is not actually stones that give the famous stone massage, but rather a series of air bladders which are fed by a complicated control unit. We also see coils that heat the seats, fans to circulate the air and all the padding. And yes, it is possible to wonder how fast all this would go up in flames if there were an error in some of the embedded wiring.

Sometimes and being able to see what’s going on in our cars is better than . But that doesn’t mean we won’t still enjoy the massage.
