It’s possible that there will be a new range-topper, but it won’t have a supercharged engine V8.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was introduced in 2018. It is one of the most powerful mainstream production cars you can buy. The vehicle is also extremely fast off the line, with a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds. You may only have a few months to purchase a new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The range-topper might be discontinued for the next model year.
Jeep has begun production of the next-generation Grand Cherokee. However, MoparInsiders was informed by sources within Stellantis that a new-gen Trackhawk is unlikely to happen. The automaker originally planned to release a new supercharged V8 engine, but Stellantis electrification pushes and ever-growing emission regulations force the company to reconsider its strategy.
It is possible that a Trackhawk will be made later in the model’s lifespan, but it won’t have a supercharged V8 engine. According to rumors, the hybridized 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine will be used. It could have up to 525 horsepower (391kilowatts) with instant torque delivery due to the electric motor. This is not the same horsepower (527 kW) as the Trackhawk’s current Trackhawk. However, hybrid technology and its power delivery could fill the gap.
A smaller, electrified engine is also being considered for the Grand Cherokee. The 4xe version of the Grand Cherokee will use the same electrified engine as the Wrangler4xe. The SUV will get a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine with two electric motors. This gives it a total output power of 375 horsepower (280kilowatts) as well as 470 pound-feet (673 Newton meters) of torque.
