Jeep unveils Wrangler Unlimited Willys Xtreme Recon with Army Looks

The Xtreme Recon package doesn’t just apply to the Rubicon.

We were surprised by Jeep’s surprise at the Detroit 4Fest preview. They brought the previously unannounced Wrangler Unlimited Willys Xtreme Recon. It has some of the same features as the Rubicon Xtreme Recon, but it retains the retro military look of the Willys model.

The Wrangler Unlimited Willys’ Xtreme Recon package includes 35-inch tires wrapped around 17-inch beadlock capable wheels. A 1.5-inch (3.81 centimeters) suspension lift is also available. The total ground clearance measures 11 inches (27.94 cm).

The Rubicon’s Xtreme Recon equipment provides 12.9 inches (32.7 centimeters), of ground clearance. The Bronco is the Wrangler’s main competitor. It has 8.3 inches (21.8 centimeters), of clearance in stock form, and 11.5 inches (29.21 centimeters), with 35-inch tires.

Customers can still receive the remainder of the equipment on the Willys. The SUV has a gloss black grille, rock rails, and a roof rack. These photos show it in Sarge Green. Although there are other colors available, we cannot imagine anyone choosing this trim without wanting the Army-inspired color. The hood also features “Willys”, a stenciled font.

The Willys can be paired with the Heritage Tan and Black cabins that are shown in these photos. You can also choose an all-black interior.

Combining military-theming with big tires and a taller ride height makes for a rugged-looking rig. This is in sharp contrast to the Tuscadero Pink Wrangler, which is also.

The Willys Xtreme Concon starts at $39,495. The four-door Unlimited is the only option. The 3.6-liter V6 and 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder are available to buyers. The one shown in the photos is an automatic. However, the six-speed manual will likely be available. Deliveries begin in December.
