The bright future of the 14-year old is in her sights.
Although Ken Block and Ford may have parted ways earlier in the year, it seems like he still has the Hoonicorn. The modified Mustang is back in action on the Hoonigan YouTube channel, but this time it faces a Pro Stock Chevy corvette drag-racer piloted and maintained by Alex Laughlin of the NHRA. Although the Corvette boasts 4,000 horsepower (2.982 kilowatts) as well as a parachute it is not enough to keep the Mustang in its rearview mirror.
Block’s 14-year-old daughter Lia drives the Hoonicorn. The Hoonicorn produces a paltry 1,400 horsepower (1.043 kW), from its Ford-sourced twin-turbocharged V8. All-wheel drive is available. The engine can be paired to a six speed paddle-shift transmission. The Corvette features a Hemi V8 engine with a Lenco three-speed transmission. Although it is lighter than the Mustang, it weighs in at 2,800 pounds (1.270 kg) and 2,998 lbs (1.359 kg). It has rear-wheel drive.
The Hoonicorn took a huge lead at the start, leaving the Corvette behind. This was the first race. The second race is closer. Although the Corvette has a slightly better start from the tree than the Hoonicorn, it is able keep its lead to the finish. It is only about half a car longer. The last race is much the same as the first. Lia gets a spectacular start that the Corvette cannot match. Lia’s Hoonicorn finishes the race by three cars lengths.
Although it might seem unfair to pit the Corvette with a 4,000-hp engine against the Hoonicorn on tarmac that isn’t prepared for racing, it will be a close race. The Corvette has been able to complete the eight-mile in just 3.5 seconds, at 212 mph (341 km/h), so it is difficult for it to get the necessary traction. This video shows how unfair an all-wheel drive matchup can make.
