For 2021, other Kia models will be more expensive.
The Kia Telluride has been a market leader. The automaker has been enjoying strong customer demand since the launch of this vehicle. It was awarded the World Car of the Year and the North American Car of the Year.
A few hundred dollars more to the base price won’t likely affect the market performance of the 2021 Telluride, given its many awards and recognitions from customers. A bulletin sent out to dealers by CarsDirect indicates that the 2021 Telluride has become $200 more expensive in all grades, and $300 more expensive for the SX trim.
The destination charges for Kia’s SUV models in 2021 have increased to $1,175; the Telluride has a higher $1,225 charge, $55 more than the previous year. The base 2021 Telluride costs $33,415, which is $630 more than when it was first launched at the end 2020.
The Telluride saw its first significant price increase approximately one year ago. The SUV’s MSRP was $33,060 in January 2020 after a $275 price increase. For 2020, the Telluride original price was $32,785
Not only is the large utility a Kia model that has seen a price increase, but so are many other models. Other cars from the South Korean automaker are $100 more expensive in certain trim levels. These price changes are similar to those Kia made in January 2013 and are largely driven by high transaction costs.
