Lamborghini Announces 2 New V12 Reveals for 2021

They could be anything.

The V12 engine isn’t dead yet. Lamborghini makes sure that this, at least in the short-term. Officially, the Aventador is now a decade old. A successor to the Aventador with a V12 engine will eventually be available, but it is possible that it will arrive sooner than expected. It seems unlikely but Lamborghini will reveal two new V12 products in 2021.

This is Lamborghini’s direct word. It’s also worth noting that the words refer to two new products “based upon the iconic V12.” This leaves much to speculation, but Lamborghini offers a hint. Although the V12 statement by the automaker is just one sentence at the end a press release about 2020 sales, it clearly states that the Huracan STAR will also be joined by two other products. The plot thickens.

It is known that the successor to the Aventador will be powered by a naturally-aspirated V12 and a hybrid powertrain. A 2021 debut could also be possible. Recent reports indicate that the next generation Lambo flagship and the Huracan successor are being delayed. We’re not optimistic about Lamborghini’s new V12 engine.

Another hybrid Aventador-based hybrid, similar to the limited-production sian, is a possibility. The hypercar is different from other hybrid vehicles because it uses a supercapacitor to create mild-hybrid arrangements, infusing it with 819 horsepower (611kW). It is not known if the Sian will increase power output, but it will be another very limited-edition machine with less than 100 units.

The second could be another odd one-off build, like the SC20. However, we think Lamborghini would not drop such a bold teaser to promote a single project. We don’t think it is related to the hotter Urus SUV.

What does the Aventador STO sound like? These V12 products will be joining the Huracan STO, which is basically a road-legal variant of the Squadra Corse racing cars. Yes, the Aventador SVJ already has a track-focused, weight-reduced model. We do know that Lamborghini has always room to make a more hard-core, elemental Aventador model.
