The V12 engine will live on.
Lamborghini has finally said goodbye to its Aventador after 10 years of production. Lamborghini won’t completely abandon the V12 engine. Instead, it is working diligently to create a new replacement unit that will only share its cylinder count with current Lamborghini V12. Autoblog was given some details by Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini CEO.
Lamborghini presented the Aventador Ultimae in July 2021. This is the end of the decade-long Aventador story. Aventador Ultimae’s 6.5-liter V12 engine produces 770 horsepower and 531 pounds of torque. This beast of an engine can turn up to 8,500 RPM, where it produces its maximum power.
The Lamborghini L539 V12 motor was specifically designed for the launch of Aventador’s supercar. It was the second all-new V12 engine ever to be installed in a Lamborghini. All V12 Lamborghinis before the L539 used an evolution from the Bizzarini V12 motor, which was originally designed by Giotto Bizzarini back in the 1960s. The 3.5-liter V12 was replaced by a 6.5-liter version in 1963. This engine can be found in Murcielago LPP 640.
It will be the third V12 Lamborghini has ever built. This makes it very difficult to do right. Winkelmann told Autoblog that the technology was completely different. It’s a completely brand new engine, drivetrain, battery and everything else is entirely new. The next flagship will not be able to take anything out of either the Sian nor the Aventador.
