Can the German supercar’s fastback sedan be beaten by the Italian supercar?
Some automotive comparisons can be quite complex, but others are simple. Here’s an example: Mat Watson from Carwow pits a Lamborghini Aventador SV against an Audi RS7 during a quarter-mile drag racing race.
Although you might believe that the German sedan is the clear winner, we aren’t so sure. It is the most affordable option at $325,180 (EUR275,000), but it has 700 horsepower (521kilowatts) as well as 737 pound-feet (1,200 newton-meters). The Aventador is 50 horsepower more than the , but its lack of torque (509 Lbft/690 Nm) leads us to believe that the results will be similar.
We are treated to a sound check of both cars before the race starts, as is the case with Carwow drag racing videos. You can decide for yourself, but the Lamborghini’s 6.5-liter V12 soundtrack is hard to beat compared to the RS7 twin-turbocharged 4.0 liter V8. Both engines are sure to bring a smile to any petrolhead.
The launch control of the Italian competitor is not easy to use or engage. Both cars started the line after the problems were resolved and the Audi won. The RS7 won the race.
After much fiddling with both cars’ systems, the roles were reversed for the second run. The Lambo won the race by half a car, however. The video not only shows which car is faster, but also shows how hard it can be to make these cars successful. Technology aside, if your goal is to be fast and on a tight budget, you should buy an RS7. It will take some time to setup the launch control.
