Land Rover Defender 90 Spied – Showing Its Compact Body

This SUV is perfect for off-roading.

Land Rover continues to give its next-gen Defender cold-weather workout. These spy shots capture the two-door, short wheelbase 90 variant of the Land Rover, instead of the four door 110 in the previous set. By compressing the SUV’s angular styling into a smaller area, the compact footprint enhances its boxy appearance.

The Defender’s modernized utilitarian design is what the new Defender sports. The body is not shaped and appears flat. It has a very tough appearance. The front features narrow rectangular headlights with matching grilles. This test mule’s rear has a lot of camouflage, making the tail appear one piece. However, we expect the final design will be more flat.

The 90 has the shortest overhangs at the rear. This makes it the ideal choice for those who plan to go off-roading frequently with their SUV. The rig’s higher ride height and high exhaust exits will help keep it safe from any rough terrain. The new independent rear suspension will provide a more comfortable ride on the road.

According to reports, the new Defender will launch with a turbodiesel 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. A hybrid may be offered at launch, or soon after it goes on sale.

Two-door Defender 90 and four door Defender 110 will be available first. They’ll go on sale in America in 2020. Land Rover will eventually add a larger 130 model and a pickup version to their range. These models have not been seen in spy shots, so don’t expect them to make their debut anytime soon.
