Have you got one minute? Here’s an LFA video.
It’s been more than a decade since Lexus introduced its Lexus LFA supercar. It wasn’t a huge commercial success. However, still sold some units in the US over the last few years.
The LFA had a profound impact on how we perceive Toyota’s luxury marque. It is also an inspiration for some of the most extreme Lexus sports cars, such as the and LC 500. Even though production ended in 2012 with 500 units of the LFA, there are still a few examples left. One example was captured by Motorsport Magazine.
How furious was the LFA’s acceleration test ten years later? The video below shows the LFA screaming at 9,500 RPM and sprinting at 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (62 mi per hour) in 4.4 seconds. It is hard to deny that we didn’t hear the familiar, heavenly exhaust note that the LFA is known for.
Even better, the footage showed the V10supercar’s naturally-aspirated V10supercar gliding around corners on a racetrack. You’re probably a fan.
It’s difficult to imagine Lexus’ LFA successor, but it is possible. Koji Sato (then vice president and president) stated in an interview that there is hope for an LFA successor, but that they would need support from the media. This is the company’s halo vehicle and should be replaced to bring customers back to the brand.
Although we haven’t heard any other follow-up, that doesn’t mean we don’t hope it will someday.
