Lexus LFA Successor reportedly Coming With 937-HP HP PHEV V8

This is a funny rumor. However, it’s best to take the information with a grain.

According to a Japanese publication Best Car, a rumor has surfaced that Lexus is developing a vehicle that could be used as spokesman for the LFA. It is expected to be on the roads by 2025.

Rumours even describe the possible powerplant. The LFA successor is said to use a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 with plug in hybrid assistance, rather than the screaming V10. This setup could produce around 937 horsepower (699 megawatts). For better weight balance, the combustion engine is reportedly located ahead of the drive, but behind the front axle.

Best Car renders the vehicle looking like a modernized LFA, with more sleek lines than the original. It is not clear if this rendering is purely speculation or if the publication has an insider who can describe the vehicle’s appearance. Carbon fiber is used extensively in the body panels.

Although we take this rumor very seriously, there are some indications that Lexus is at least open to building a successor for the LFA. Toyota Vice President Koji Sato stated in 2019 : “I love this but we need your support.” We need to hear strong requests from the media for a new LFA. This will help us move forward.”

There were also odd widebody LFAs that lapped the Nurburgring in 2018, and 2019,. Although Lexus claimed they were testing new tires, it didn’t explain why engineers covered the widened ends with camouflage.

The production-spec LFA was introduced at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show and went on sale the next year. Through 2012 , 500 were built by the company. The timing is right for Lexus’ new halo supercar, as it has been more than a decade since its retirement.

With engineering assistance from Yamaha, the original LFA had a 4.8-liter V10 naturally aspirated. The engine produced 552 horsepower (412 megawatts) at 9,000 rpm. It produced an amazing sound thanks to its quick-revving engine.
