Lexus LFA Vs LC 500 Drag Race Is A Mismatch You’d Still Watch

Aren’t they just amazing?

The Lexus LFA is undoubtedly one the most famous supercars ever made. It was a huge success since its production began in 2010, and again in 2012, when production was stopped. There were only 500 copies of this Japanese supercar. The exotic sports car was rare and one of the most expensive Japanese cars with a base price at $375,000.

Although the end of production of the LFA sounded bad to many, Lexus produced a new, exciting sports coupe, the LC 500. However, it was five times less expensive. How does the newer Lexus sports car fare against the LFA?

CarWow UK put the two of them in drag racing to see who can beat the veteran. Let’s review the numbers and see why this is such a mismatch before we watch the video.

The LC 500’s V8 engine is a 5.0-liter V8, an updated version of the engine in the RC. The engine produces impressive power, with a maximum output of 471 horsepower and 398 pounds-feet. It is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The LFA is powered by a 4.8-liter V10, which is slightly smaller than the LC 500, but has more cylinders. It produces more power than the sports coupe. The V10 sends 552 horsepower and 354 lb-ft to the rear wheels via an electrohydraulic manual six-speed gearbox.

The supercar is significantly lighter than the LC 500, aside from its power advantage. The LFA’s carbon fiber-reinforced plastic material weighs only 1,600 kilograms (3.527 pounds), while the LC 500 is around 1,950 kilograms (4.299 pounds). In drag racing, the difference of almost 800 lb between them was obvious. The LFA will remain iconic because of that.
