Lexus LS F and LC F Come With Twin-Turbo V8s Rated At 660 Horsepower

According to the same report, an IS F will also be coming. All three are expected to debut this year.

Since years, reports about Lexus’ F-series high-performance sedan have been circulating the internet. Rumors are circulating without any sign of slowing down as Japanese magazine Best Car Web says we’re on our way to an F-onslaught this year. Three models are expected to be unveiled in November.

The IS F is rumored to be back, despite previous reports claiming otherwise. It will use the same naturally-aspirated V8 as the RC F which produces 472 horsepower and 395 pound feet (536 Newton-meters). Some people claim that the IS F would be able to get everything, from the BMW-originating six-cylinder inline-six in Toyota Supra up to the in-house twin turbo V6. We aren’t surprised by this new rumor.

It gets very interesting when the report discusses the LC F coupe as well as LS F sedan. They will apparently share a twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8 engine that produces as much as 660 horsepower (650 Nm) and 479 lb/ft (660 NM) of torque. Although it’s not the first time that we hear about a new eight-cylinder engine from Toyota/Lexus we are still cautious about new F performance models.

This sounds almost too good to be true, considering the current automotive industry is focused on electrification and downsizing. This contrasts with a new direction Lexus wants to go in, as the teased electric concept vehicle will open the door to a greener future based upon the Direct4 electric system that caters to pure EVs or hybrids.

Best Car Magazine renders all three possible F models. While they look very attractive, it is best to wait to see if Lexus is interested and offer the RC F a companion.

The report mentions that the flagship LF SUV will be unveiled as soon as July. It measures 5250 mm (207 in) in length, 1900 mm (77.5 in) in width and 1580 mm (62.2 in) high. It is expected to follow the 2018 LF-1 Limited concept. It will feature both the new twin-turbo V8 as well as the smaller 3.5-liter V6s of the standard LS.
