Just a few short weeks before the arrival of the refreshed G70 in the USA.
The refreshed Genesis G70 was unveiled for the Korean market a few months back. The marque’s Athletic Elgance design language has been updated. This can be seen on the G80 sedan as well as the GV80 SUV.
The 2022 Genesis G70 will be available for the US market at this year’s spring. However, American buyers can choose a limited-run Launch Edition, which elevates the G70’s look in the lineup. The automaker is now accepting reservations for luxury Korean sedans.
The G70 Launch Edition is distinguished by its exclusive matte color options. They are available in Melbourne Gray or Verbier White. Genesis states that the matte paint will help define the sedan’s form more and is complemented by lightweight alloy wheels of 19-inch diameter.
The G70’s cabin theme is another unique feature. It will be available in a combination Obsidian Black/Sevilla Red. Only the 2022 G70 Launch Edition will come with a twin turbo 3.3-liter V6. Although power numbers are not yet known, they will likely be the same as the prefacelift model with 365 horsepower (272 Kilowatts) & 376 pound-feet (501 Newton-meters). It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels or all four corners.
Rumours that a 2.5-liter Inline-four would replace the 2.0-liter US market engine have circulated since last year. However, this has been disproven in the reservation form to the G70. For the Launch Edition, the turbocharged 2.0-liter will be available.
The 2022 Genesis G70 will be available this spring. There will be a Launch Edition of 500 units. At the time of writing, pricing has not been revealed.
