This is the same factory that produces the mainstream Fusion. According to reports, all trim levels including the MKZ Hybrid Hybrid and MKZ Black Label will be discontinued simultaneously. Ford will replace the sedans in the assembly lines by the new Bronco Sports.
The 2020 model year will be the last luxury sedan. The MKZ received welcome upgrades for its last year of production. These included new equipment packages, additional colors options, and new grille designs for different trim levels. There were no mechanical upgrades.
The Lincoln Continental will continue to be the only sedan with the MKZ. It will also be canceled following the current generation. It’ll be interesting to see if the brand continues to exist without a single sedan, something that its dealers wouldn’t be happy to hear. A recent report shows that sedans still make up about a third of the company’s business.
