Last year, there was a huge surplus of unsold vehicles.
Needless to mention, the coronavirus pandemic hampered automobile sales last year. The list of top-selling cars, trucks and SUVs in 2020 had a huge sales drop compared to last year. This indicates that the slump wasn’t just limited to non-popular models.
Car brands had a huge surplus of unsold 2020 model year vehicles, in line with last year’s sales turmoil. This can be a good thing for current buyers, as they have the option of buying the newest 2021 model or a slightly older 2020 model. However, an iSeeCars survey of more than 700,000.00 new cars for sale reveals the nameplates that are still in stock for 2020.
The Ford Escape is the top-selling vehicle, with 90.4 percent of new vehicles for sale starting in 2020. The Escape is a popular vehicle but sales declined due to the availability on the same platform of the Ford Bronco Sport, which is similarly priced.
The Ecosport (second at 71.3 percent), Expedition (fourth at 61.08%), Expedition Max (fifth at 59.2%) and Ranger (8th at 51.5%) are other Ford vehicles that made the top 10. The industry average is 22.5 percent.
With 68.9 per cent of new cars available starting in 2020, the Chevy Bolt is third on the list. With 57.7 percent, the Hyundai Santa Fe ranks sixth. The Ford Ranger is in the top 10, as are the Chrysler 300 (52.2 percent), Dodge Charger (51.2%) and Buick Envision (51.1%).
The Hyundai Santa Fe was the only non-American vehicle in the top 10 most unsold 2020 inventory. The Korean crossover is a straightforward choice for buyers, as it offers so many updates compared to its predecessor and a small price difference.
