Although nobody was hurt, Corvette dreams of someone are still in pain right now.
There’s nothing worse than seeing your brand-new car totaled on the delivery truck right after you pick it up. It’s worse than seeing your brand new car totaled by the delivery truck right after you pick it up. We don’t know if the new Chevrolet Corvettes are still available, but we are betting that they are. They were.
According to Track, the good news is that there was no injury to the truck driver involved in this blaze of ‘Vettes. CorieblueFickes shared footage of the fire on Facebook. She captured a video of a car carrying new Corvettes, blazing into the night sky near Nashville, Tennessee. Although we don’t know where exactly it is, we know that at least four of the cars were total losses, not to mention the truck. Warning: The video contains strong language. We would have our own words if we were just a few feet from a big, blazing rig full of cars.
Although the cause of the fire remains unknown, it is believed to have started with the rig. The photo below is courtesy of Corvette Blog. It looks like the fire started underneath the semi’s hood.
The cab is almost unrecognizable and the Corvette on its overhead ramp is also gone. The second Corvette on this upper ramp is also completely burned. Additionally, the heat caused the third ramp on the C8 behind to collapse. Although the blue ‘Vette can be recognized as being blue, with the front scorched it is likely to be a total loss. Maybe the engine can be salvaged?
The damage appears to have been limited to the cab and four cars that were carried. The load of a fully loaded vehicle can carry six additional cars on its trailer so it might not be total loss. Ironically, since this happened north of Nashville, it didn’t make it far to the Corvette assembly plant, Kentucky.
