Lucky Reporter Seizes the Opportunity to Catch GMC’s Truck Sinking

It happened live on a news broadcast.

It is impossible to understand the mysteries of our universe. This video shows a pickup truck launching a boat and sinking into a lake. This is the obvious conclusion, but what you are actually seeing is fate casting its curious shadow on multiple individuals at once. Each individual’s end result can be very different. It took place at Lake Springfield, Illinois on July 29, and we can confirm that it occurred exactly on July 29. It happened because Jakob Emerson, a NewsChannel 20 reporter, was at the lake’s boat launch doing a live broadcast. It was apparently about a controversy regarding the construction of another lake. But, hey, using a lake for a backdrop to a live news report makes a lot of sense. This is news in the world.

A person was also launching what appears to be a fishing boat from the ramp. Emerson is completing his live report. We can clearly see Emerson reversing a current-generation GMC Sierra HD while Emerson watches. The mirror behind Emerson disappears until it is only visible from the passenger side. Everything seems to be fine until Emerson quickly loses the mirror. We can only imagine the sounds he was hearing as he wrapped the report. His gasp when he turns around after the live portion is over tells the whole story.

Emerson’s report on the sinking does not explain what actually happened. The truck was probably in park and an related report discusses the dangers of steep boat ramps, which can be slippery with algae.

Although we don’t know much about the pickup, we do know it is a GMC Sierra of current generation. We believe it to be a Denali based on the grille. The current starting price is $67,690 according to GMC’s website. Ouch.

It is not uncommon to capture acts of fate on film. It’s not uncommon to capture fate smiling and frowning on the same person . This deserves some attention. While we are grateful that nobody was hurt, it is amazing that this reporter was in the right spot at the right time.
