Mary Barra, GM CEO, Made $23.7M in 2020; Musk Technically Made Nothing

Barra was paid less by Ford and FCA bosses than Barra.

General Motors CEO Mary Barra earned $23.7 million in 2020, which was the highest executive compensation among the Big Three. According to Automotive News, she has a base salary at $2 million and short-term incentives of $3.8 millions and $13.1 million stock.

Mike Manley, who made $14.2 million, was the CEO at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2020. He had been there before it merged with PSA. Ford changed CEOs in October 2020. Jim Hackett was the former boss and received $16.7 million while Jim Farley, the new CEO, received $11.8 million.

Tesla also revealed its executive compensation. Elon Musk did not receive a salary in 2020. He has achieved six milestones as part of his contract. He can now purchase 50.6 million shares from the automaker at $70.01 per share. According to , the company’s share price is just below $700 per share. This means that Musk could make around $32 Billion by selling the stock. However, the agreement stipulates that Musk must retain the shares for five year before he can sell them.

Compare this to other CEOs of automakers.
