This is the truck we want.
Mini once built a small pickup truck. That was a long time ago and the Mini era has seen nothing like it. It might be because this Mini pickup, made from a clubman, is truck yes.
There have been many oddball pickup builds, including one from Smyth Performance. They offer a wide range of fiberglass bed conversions from the VW Beetle up to a Dodge Charger. The Mini didn’t come with a fiberglass bed or instructions for turning a four-door, all wheel-drive Clubman into an SUV. Timothy, also known as imperf3kt on Instagram, wrote the book. We’d say that the final product is far from being imperfect. Say hello to Elcamini.
This article’s video gives an overview of the build. However, Timothy’s Instagram page provides more detail and this was a long project. Timothy began by removing the roof. He then added bracing to strengthen the Clubman and make it a functional truck. He seals the back doors and fills in the holes where the handles were. And that window! It comes from a Volkswagen and Timothy did all of the work. According to the video, he actually learned how to weld by creating the bed’s floor. That’s dedication.
The final product looks almost like a Mini pickup. The Clubman got more than just a conversion. He also got beefy tires, a roofrack, snorkel, and a grille protector for off-road adventures. This is not a show truck. The solid steel bed will be used to haul actual trucks.
You don’t often see a truck conversion like this. This is a great job Timothy and Mini. A small, electric vehicle truck could be a great alternative to the GMC Hummer or smaller city runabouts such as the Fiat 500e.
