Maybach GLS 100 celebrates a century of car production

Only 100 units will be constructed.

Mercedes-Maybach elevates the most luxurious models of the luxury brand to their highest level in elegance, technology and features. Although it has had a turbulent history, Maybach is marking the centenary anniversary of its first production car with a special edition GLS. The Edition 100 is a special edition that adds comfort and amenities to the already extensive spec sheet.

The pair includes the Maybach GLS. S-Class Edition 100 was also announced by the company. These two limited edition units of 100 each are hand-painted in the same two-tone Cirrus Silver/Nautical blue. Both models come with Edition 100 markings, but the GLS has a set of unique forged wheels. Both interiors can be ordered with either a leather or designo crystal white/silver grey pearl interior. GLS has additional soundproofing.

The only difference between the Edition 100 models is in the engine. Although the S-Class has a V12 engine, the GLS has a V8, it packs a powerful punch. It produces 557 horsepower (415kilowatts), which is not far from the 612-hp (456 kW) V12 found in the sedan. With its bold two-tone paint scheme and large size, the GLS is bold. On the SUV’s D pillar, a double-M emblem is displayed with an “Edition 100” plaque beneath.

In 2022, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic Edition 100 is expected to begin arriving in dealerships in its first markets. The product will continue to be available in additional markets throughout the year. The fourth quarter of 2012 will see the opening of order books. However, production is limited so it’s important to get in quick if you want one the Maybach special models. Mercedes-Maybach has already begun to lay the foundations for its next 100-years. At the Munich Motor Show, the all-electric and luxurious Maybach-EQS SUV concept was displayed.
