The Mercedes-Benz-Benz A-Class, the brand’s entry-level model in the US, is an important part of its product range. It was the fourth generation of A-Class that arrived in 2018. However, it is due for a mid-cycle refresh. Spy photos showed the hotter AMG A45 while it was being tested late last month. However, a new batch shows regular variants with camouflage.
Due to the missing exhaust pipes, it is believed that both test cars are the PHEV model. It will also debut in the US. Rumours claim Mercedes will be replacing the Renault petrol engines. Geely is making in China. A 2.0-liter engine could replace the 1.5-liter one. Until Mercedes tells us, however, we won’t be able to know which powertrains will power this updated A-Class. An increase in power could be correlated with a larger engine.
Mercedes has not yet set a date for the new A-Class. However, it will likely debut before the AMG A45 which could be revealed as soon as next year. It is possible that the updated A-Class will debut later in the year to make way for the 2022 model year. Although there won’t be many changes, customers could still visit showroom floors with a refreshed powertrain lineup, a new face and tweaked taillights.
