It’s perfect, with the exception of its name and the U.S. prohibition on forbidden fruits.
In the past, the only two compact Mercedes cars were the A_Class hatchback or the B-Class minivan. The lineup has evolved to include new body styles and a variety of AMG derivatives. Affalterbach is not available for minivans, but you should be able find AMG flavors for most other compact models.
Mercedes-AMG just added a warmer version of its CLA Shooting Brake to its “35” lineup. Why is it “warm”? The “45” variant with over 400 horsepower and many other upgrades will be the most popular. Although we are still not able to accept the use of the term “shooting brake”, on a wagon with rear doors, we must give three-pointed star credit to CLA Shooting Brake for keeping it alive for another generation in today’s SUV-obsessed market.
The videos released by parent company Daimler give a closer look at the AMG wagon which is the smallest and most cost-effective. Unfortunately, it won’t be made available in America in AMG or in any other form. We don’t think we’ll see the CLA 35 Shooting Brake in any markets. It’s a niche model that won’t attract many people to buy an SUV.
This car is a great choice for those who love wagons. The car is almost as beautiful as the CLA sedan. However, the rear end has been reshaped to increase cargo space. It boasts a powerful 2.0-liter engine that produces a little more than 300 horsepower. It takes just five seconds to reach 62 MPH (100 km/h).
All-wheel drive is available from the beginning, as well as a dual-clutch seven speed automatic transmission. This should make long journeys more enjoyable. You should already be familiar with the subtle styling changes over non-AMG versions. We’ve seen them on the A35 hatchback and A35 sedan as well as the CLA 35. The inside is a similar story. The high-tech cabin was largely copied from the entry-level AMG models.
What’s next for Mercedes’ compact car lineup? GLB would be that, and it was teased yesterday in production form. We’ll be seeing a GLB 35 soon, and spy images of a GLB45 have already been shown.
