You might be surprised at how limited it is. 463.

The Mercedes G-Class W463 press release states that the new Mercedes G-Class W463 Limited Edition will be available “just before the end its period of manufacturing.” The latest version of this iconic off-roader comes in three versions: a G350d, G350d Professional, and a G500. Each edition is limited to 463 units to honor the model’s internal designation.

The W463 has been retired since 1990. However, this Limited Edition adds styling and equipment to the W463. The G350d is distinguished visually by its sophisticated designo mocha black metallic paint, while its Professional counterpart has a more subtle china blue shade. The exterior of the V8-powered G500 has been given a fancy designo platinum magno exterior.

Mercedes may add extras depending on which one you choose. The G350d comes with the exterior, sports and chrome stainless steel packages. It also includes tinted windows and heated windscreen. Professional Offroad packages are for the more rugged Professional. This includes, among other things, a roof rack. The Loading Protection package includes protective grilles for the headlights and a wooden load box floor.

The G500 also comes with the Chrome and Sports packages, as well as the Loading Protection Package, which includes a load compartment cover and trailer coupling with ballhead. Mercedes will add auxiliary heating, a TV tuner, heated windshield, and Harman Kardon surround sound systems to make it worthwhile.

As a reference to Magna Steyr’s Schockl Mountain in Austria, which is not far from Magna Steyr’s factory in Graz, all three models will have an embossed Schockl badge at the center armrest. To further differentiate them from regular models, the G-Class models will be equipped with a limited edition emblem on the A-pillar.

Pricing is a concern. The G350d Professional is at EUR103,940 in Germany. Next is the G350d at EUR122.918, followed by the G350d at EUR122.918, and finally the G500 at EUR140,164.

G-Class Limited Edition models of the trio will be available at dealerships beginning in January 2018. The new-generation W464 will arrive in dealerships later next year.
