Mercedes Kicks Off Production Of EQC In Germany

The brand will begin assembly in China later this year.

The production of the EQC all-electric SUV marks the beginning of a new era in Mercedes-Benz. The EV will be assembled at the company’s Bremen factory, where the C Class (sedan/wagon) and Coupe (both and HTML3_) are also made. Daimler states that the plant has been financed with a large amount of money. This allows for the production of different powertrains on one line. This makes it possible to adapt the process according to market demand.

Britta Seeger (Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales), comments, “With the Mercedes-Benz EQC we are entering an new era of mobility.” It is part of the Mercedes-Benz growing range of all-electric cars and offers brand-defining features like quality, safety and comfort. Our customers can expect a progressive design and unparalleled ride comfort, all while still being able to use the vehicle for daily activities.

The process of attaching the body to suspension and powertrain in traditional automobile assembly is known as “marriage.” Mercedes has introduced a new process for the production of EQC. This is when the battery pack is placed into the vehicle after the electric engines and other parts of the powertrain system. It is very similar to installing an ICE in a traditional car. Support arms lift the battery from the bottom and an employee watches the bolting.

Bremen’s plant will be the centre of competence for EQC production in China. The Beijing Benz Automotive Co joint venture will allow Mercedes to assemble the electric SUV in the People’s Republic. The automaker plans to continue producing EQ-branded models in Rastatt, Sindelfingen (Germany), Tuscaloosa and Hambach (France) in the future. Accumotive, a subsidiary of Daimler, supplies the batteries for all EQC cars.
