Let’s hope for the SLR’s revival.
Although Mercedes-Benz stopped making the iconic, some still love the supercharged V8 coupe.
Georgi Bozokov has posted unofficial renderings on his Behance page. He imagines another SLR McLaren concept. His earlier work last year presented a modern version the Mercedes-dominated design. However, Bozhkov’s latest take on the front engined supercar leans more towards the McLaren side – with its engine located behind the seats. You can see the pictures below to understand what we mean.
This render shows that McLaren’s design language was used by Bozhkov in his front-engine layout. The McLaren styling can be seen at the front fascia, headlights and roof scoop. This is available via MSO or the Senna. This render shows that the engine is located at the rear, despite its long-hood-short deck form.
We can see the Dodge Viper vibe from the side. However, it’s hard to miss the distinctive slats between the front fenders that remind us of the original SLR McLaren. The only Mercedes feature in this car is the Three-Pointed Star emblems that are above the slats.
Further confirmation of the rear-engine layout can also be seen at the back with the engine cover and exhaust pipes high up on the tail. This McLaren signature configuration features the exhaust outlets located next to the engine. This reduces the vehicle’s weight and helps to keep it lighter.
This rear-engine, long-hood design is not for you. It’s not a bad thing to hope for an SLR McLaren’s return, so let’s do it.
