The worldwide limit is 740 units
Although the Mini vehicle could be dated back to the ’60s or earlier, the collaboration between John Cooper and Sir Alec Issigonis only began in September 1961. This was the birth of the Austin Mini Cooper, and the Morris Mini Cooper.
Mini has launched a special three-door model to celebrate this historic event. The Mini Anniversary Edition is limited to a few units worldwide. It aims to honor John Cooper’s success in Formula 1 and the traditional sporting spirit of Mini.
The Mini Anniversary Edition models come in British Racing Green metallic, as John Cooper’s race cars are easily identifiable by their green paintwork and white accents. A Midnight Black metallic version is also available. Mini John Cooper Works anniversary Edition can also be made with a Rebel Green body color. White is available for the roof, exterior mirror caps and door handles as well as surrounds for rear and headlights.
Additional accents include white hood stripes and a red accent line. This number is a reference to the original starting number the Mini Cooper wore when it made its first appearance at the race track. The standard package includes a set 18-inch John Cooper Works light alloy wheels in Circuit Spoke two tone design, as well as the COOPER logo on the door sill trims and C-pillars.
The interior surface of the car features the signatures on the driver’s side of John, Mike, and Charlie Cooper. The emblem on the driver’s side door frame features John Cooper’s signature and a handwritten note “1of 740” along with the words “60 years of MINI COOPER – THE UNEXPECTED UNDOG.”
The Mini Anniversary Edition is restricted to the Cooper S and Cooper S three-door models, as well as Mini John Cooper Works. The worldwide limit is 740 units.
