Modified McLaren 765LT Hits 60 Mph In 1.7 Seconds, Quarter Mile In 8.7

McLaren is the fastest car in the world.

Drag racing is often characterized by extremely insane vehicles capable of devouring tarmac. The world’s fastest McLaren765LT earned its stripes at the TX2K21 event. Brooks Weisblat, Drag Times captured the feat in a YouTube video.

The 765LT team always seem to improve every time they return on the track. They set a new world record this weekend for fastest McLaren, running the quarter-mile at just 8.793 seconds (254 km/h)).

The McLaren is different from many other cars at the event. It has a few small modifications that pack big punch. M Engineering’s tune, new downpipes and MS109 fuel have increased the power of the standard car’s 4.0-liter V8 to 930 horsepower (694kW). The rear-wheel-drive layout means that the rubber meets the road via a set Of Toyo R888R tires. Yes, , these tires are the same as those used on the Hoonicorn.

Round one saw the 765LT win easily against a McLaren 720S. Although the race was not close at the end it was still close. The duo were separated by just a tenth. Round two proved to be a different story. The winner of round 1 was pitted against the all-wheel-drive Sheepey Race Audi R8 (1,044 kilowatt). It was not surprising that even the fastest McLaren could not beat the Audi, which may have been running bias-ply tires.

Seeing these high-horsepower cars jump off the line was an amazing feat in and of itself. This video shows that drag racing is often criticized for being too simple. However, it’s clear that this video clearly shows how there’s more to it than meets the eyes when it comes down to keeping these machines in line.
