Musk Claims Tesla Roadster SpaceX Will Do 0-60 MPH In 1.1 Seconds

This is a shockingly fast turnaround.

It has been more than three years since Tesla unveiled the second-generation Roadster. The second-generation Roadster was expected to arrive on the roads last year. However, it has not yet arrived. The 2022 model year is expected to see it arrive, but the Petersen Automotive Museum has one on display. It features an interesting plaque that shows a remarkable zero-to-60-mile-per-hour speed of 1.1 seconds, when it’s equipped with the SpaceX package.

Musk confirmed the news via Twitter, saying that the SpaceX rocket thruster option pack is possible. The Roadster will use cold air thrusters that are supplied by compressed air tanks that have the thrusters concealed behind the license plate. This will help to propel the all-wheel drive sports to cruising speeds. Tesla claims that the car can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 1.9 seconds without the package. This is still quite remarkable.

Musk has made many promises regarding the Roadster. It claims that the car will travel 620 miles (998 km) using its tri-motor configuration. One motor is in the front, and two are in the battery pack that will power the four wheels. A 250-kilowatt hour battery will provide power and range. The Tesla company revealed the car in 2017. It was said that the car would produce 7,375 pound-feet (10000 Newton-meters) of torque, and it could reach 100 mph (160 km/h) in 4.2 seconds. This is faster than the average 60-mph speed. It could complete the quarter-mile in 8.8 seconds.

The car can reach speeds of over 250 mph (402 km/h). This performance will not come cheap. The base Roadster is priced at $200,000, with the Founders Series car costing $250,000 per. Tesla needed $50,000 to reserve one. It could be a remarkable performance car once it arrives. The Petersen museum will have the Tesla Roadster on display until June 2, 2021.
