Mustang Mach-E 1400 Faces Cobra Jet 1400 In Electric Pony Drag Race

Ford has two of the most powerful EVs in its lineup.

Ford is serious about electrification. Ford is creating high-powered, one-offs such as the Mustang Mach E 1400 or Cobra Jet1400 to show the world what’s possible. This video features Joey Logano, a NASCAR driver, and Bob Tasca III, a NHRA Funny Car driver.

Logano rides the Mustang Mach–E 1400. It also has four electric motors, three at the front and four at its rear, making it 1,400 horsepower (1.044 kilowatts). The large wing and other aero components produce more than 2,300 pounds (1.043 kilograms), of downforce at 160 mph (258 km/h).

The track layout includes Brembo brakes and a hydraulic handbrake. You can adjust the drivetrain to balance the power between the rear and front. You can also turn things with different steering and control arms.

The Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, meanwhile, is designed for the quarter-mile. It produces 1,400 horsepower and 1,100 pound-feet (1.491 Newton-meters). The rear wheels receive all of the power.

According to Ford’s official specifications, the Cobra Jet 1400 can cover quarter-miles at speeds of over 170 miles an hour (274 km per hour). The first race is the drag racer for the electric Mustang Mustang at 167.95 mph (273.0 kph)

Logano jumps at the start of the first race. The guys then run the race a second time. Due to its all-wheel-drive configuration, the Mach-E 1400 leads the race off the line. The Cobra Jet 1400 rockets ahead once it gains traction.

The Cobra Jet 1400 completes the quarter-mile in 10.71 secs at 158.84 MPH (255.6 Kph), which is quite slower than the first race. The Mach-E 1400 covers the distance in 10.78 seconds, at 134.5 mph (21.5 kph).
