Mystery Audi SUV Follows VW Atlas in Unofficial Renderings

Audi is working on a new model but it may not be as it seems.

Audi has been working on a large SUV. However, details are not available. Spy shots revealed something beefy hidden under the camouflage. A pair of unofficial renderings by Kolesa.ru help to dispel that. The result is an upright, sturdy-looking SUV that may be heading to China.

Rumours are circulating that this could be the long-rumored Audi Q9. is the date when the company trademarked its nameplate for the first time in 2013. This car might be different. The new SUV is said to be on the MQB platform. This is in contrast to the MLB which underpins most of Audi’s luxury models such as the Q7 and Q8. This could indicate that the new large Audi shares more similarities with the VW Atlas, another large SUV from VW Group.

These renderings clearly show off the Atlas’ distinct front-end and rear-end design. It doesn’t match the SUV that we have seen in spy photos. It is covered in too much camouflage, cladding and other details to be able to identify what it is. Although the greenhouse shape is similar, it’s not that different.

Although spy shots of the Audi’s rear end have not revealed much, the camouflage seems to indicate that the SUV will feature a rear-spanning taillightbar, which is the focal point of the renderings.

The details of the mysterious Audi model are not known. The powertrain that this model will use is unknown, but everything is available. To get the full details on this new model, we will need to wait. This model is likely being designed for the Chinese market. They love large SUVs and crossovers. Automobile manufacturers are also happy to serve this market. We’ll hopefully have all the details by next year.
