New BMW M2 Coupe and XM SUV Horsepower figures Revealed

Are the numbers going to impress?

The BMW M2 Coupe is a highly anticipated performance model. The M240ixDrive has a powerful straight-six turbo engine, but you can always use a little more power. However, there are high expectations for the next-gen M2.

A forum report mentions the horsepower figure for the compact M coupe. There are other details, such as the production length and specifications. It also mentions the X M crossover, which will most likely be part the X8 family.

Let’s start with the M2. According to Bimmerpost, the M2 Coupe will produce 455 horsepower (335 Kilowatts) using its 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine. It will be even more powerful than the M2 CS, the most powerful version of the M2. The limited-run M2 CS 444 horsepower (331 kilowatts), and 406 poundfeet (550 Newton meters) of torque. The Competition version of M2 Coupe will offer even more power.

Bimmerpost claims that the M2 will have rear-wheel drive, unlike the M240i. But, it is not clear if xDrive all wheel drive will be available. BMW has positioned the 2 Series Coupe as a more “pure” driver’s vehicle. It might only be rear-wheel drive. However, it is possible to have an all-wheel-drive system with two-wheel drive mode. For those who aren’t too picky, there will be a manual version.

You might also find other interesting information in the post. Production is expected to begin in December 2022, and will continue until July 2029. The M2 and M2 Competition, like their lesser-powered counterparts, will be manufactured in Mexico’s BMW San Luis Potosi plant. An optional carbon roof is available. Some of the cars that will roll out in the 50th anniversary celebrations of the M Division will have a carbon roof.

What about the M-engineered future X crossover, The G09 XM is being reported to be the M division’s test bed for hybridized performance vehicles. It will use the S58 twin turbo straight-six from M3 and M4, but will be paired up with electric motors or batteries. The post also stated that the engine could produce 650 horsepower (478kilowatts). It is expected that production will begin in December 2022 and end in November 2027.

It’s speculation and rumors at the moment. These models will only be revealed by BMW. It will be fascinating to see how the M Division will move in an era when many automakers consider electrification the future norm.
