Bugatti confirmed that a new model will soon be available and it will be presented either in the middle of 2015 or in the early part 2016.
According to Walter de Silva, the VW Group’s chief design officer, a new Bugatti Veyron is being developed. He said that it will be more than a replacement for the 2005 model. He spoke to Top Gear but declined to give any further details, saying that the new model will be “a piece of art” and that the company had put “a lot in the technology” to make a product that “refines the benchmarks.”
According to rumors Bugatti’s new model will only be available in 450 units. It will continue to use the Veyron W16 8.0-liter quad turbo engine, but will also have an electric motor. The hybrid system will produce 1,500 PS (1.103 kW), which should enable the French supercar to reach speeds of more than 220 mph (435 km/h). The Veyron, weighing in at 1,888 kg (4162 lbs), is reportedly undergoing weight reduction measures to offset the hybrid technology.
De Silva said that there will not be a production version Galibier concept because it would “confuse clients”, but did not want to go into detail.
