It could be the debut of the model.
Marcus Viega is a Estero Bay Chevrolet dealer and recently posted more information about the Chevrolet Corvette Z06C8. The Midengine Corvette forum users note that the standard C8 will debut July 18, 2019,. They speculate that the Z06 could launch on the same date in 2021.
We must take this post with a grain, as anyone can post anything online. However, Viega’s timeline is roughly in line with the Corvette family’s expected launch date. A leak indicated that the Z06 would be available for the 2022 model-year.
The Z06 allegedly uses the 5.5-liter V8 of the C8.R racing car. The powerplant features dual overhead camshafts instead of the standard mill’s pushrod-actuated crankshafts and a flat plane crankshaft. The competition version has a limit of 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) with 480 pound-feet (651 Newton meters) of torque, in accordance with IMSA regulations. Rumours suggest that the road-going version will have 650 horsepower (485 kW) or 600 lb-ft (814 NM). The redline of the powerplant might exceed 8,000 revs.
There are a few other Z06 rumors that surround. An active front splitter and a fixed rear wings could be included in the Z07 Performance Package to manage airflow. According to reports, the sporty model rides on 20-inch wheels frontally and 21 in rear, wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubbers.
Chevy will keep the development vehicles covered in heavy camouflage. Because many cars have a covered hump, it appears that the styling changes include a modified roof. The inlets on the front fascia are wider than those in the fenders. There are also center-exit exhausts at the back.
