New Maserati GranTurismo spy video captures throaty exhaust note

It sounds familiar?

Maserati won’t let us see the new GranTurismo until it’s ready. However, it will let you listen to it. New spy video has been posted by Varryx YouTube. It shows a camouflaged test car and its distinctive exhaust note. It sounds a bit familiar and it is quite loud. We don’t know yet what kind of powertrain the GT will be equipped with. However, we do know that there will eventually be an electric version. It isn’t.

Although the video shows the coupe at a distance from the Maserati, the Maserati’s exhaust note can be clearly heard. Rumours continue to swirl about whether the car will be equipped with the Nettuno V6 which powers the new MC20. The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged unit produces 621 horsepower (456 Kilowatts) as well as 538 pound-feet (729 Nms) of torque. Although it sounds very similar to the engine in MC20, we don’t know if Maserati will put it in the GranTurismo.

Maserati’s blue camouflage continues covering the coupe, even the wheels. The car’s roofline is still affected by the cladding on the sides of the rear windows. However, it looks as distinctive as the one that replaced it. The car has a long hood with its signature grille design. However, there will be some changes. The headlights are now more vertically oriented and the front fender vent appears to have been added behind the wheels. The coupe should be evolutionary in design.

The car’s interior is still a mystery. Maserati had the interior covered. Although the GranTurismo should be available before the end, the company has not been forthcoming about when. The fully-electric variant should debut next year. Spy videos of this mode are quieter, we imagine.
