It’s almost like the C-Class interior.
The next-generation Mercedes GLC will be revealed in 2022, before it goes on the market for 2023. We don’t know when Mercedes will unveil the new crossover and we don’t think it will happen anytime soon, based on spy shots. Although the crossover still wears a full-body wrap, these photos give us a better look at its interior. There aren’t any surprises.
The GLC’s interior looked very similar to that found in the new C-Class. It draws inspiration from the larger, more luxurious S-Class. These photos confirm the earlier ones and show the interior in a wider view. It also shows the new instrument cluster display as well as the in-dash infotainment screen. Mercedes covers all interior surfaces – including the doors and dash – with black cloth.
While the crossover’s camouflage continues concealing the GLC’s new design we don’t think Mercedes designers will depart too much from current styling. Although the model seems to be larger than its predecessor, we will need to check the spec sheet to see if there are any differences. A larger footprint means more cabin space and cargo space, which is important for this model as it competes in a competitive and crowded market. It should be equipped with the most recent safety technology and luxurious amenities.
The new GLC will be riding on Mercedes’ Modular Rear Architecture. This architecture also supports the new C-Class. Both will likely share their powertrains and we can expect an AMG version with a higher performance. We expect that the GLC will get a variety of four-cylinder engines, just like the C-Class lineup. This is even true for the high-performance models. The GLC’s regular version should be first, followed by the AMG versions. A redesigned GLC Coupe is also expected.
