The company released a commercial for the new hot hatchback just weeks after its debut 8th-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI. The commercial features the new model paired with a clean example of the original. There’s something for everyone, no matter what appeals to them more.
Two men walk into a garage to find the original GTI. Today, the white hatchback still looks great with its tartan fabric interior and a black-outlined mesh grille. The new model is joined by the old-school model after a short time on the track. The eighth-gen is now the star of the show.
The spirit of the original GTI is carried forward by the new GTI. The front has red accents, just like the first-gen. However, they are much less obvious. The front bumper now features optional LED clusters with a honeycomb-like pattern. This gives the styling a modern touch.
The stereo was the only technological feature in the GTi’s original GTi. New models are available with 10.2-inch and 10-inch infotainment displays. The new model also features a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting in 30 colors, and ambient lighting. Plaid seats are still available.
The eighth generation GTI features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder with 245 horsepower (180 Kilowatts), and 273 poundfeet (370 Newton meters) of torque in Europe. Customers have the option of a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The adaptive damper system is based on data from steering input, acceleration, and braking to determine the best setting.
Although it is not known when exactly the GTI will arrive in the United States at this time, we anticipate that sales will begin before the end.
