This was once a simple truck.
Although the Nissan Navara is no more available for order in most European countries, you can still purchase one in Australia or New Zealand. Although a new generation of the Nissan Navara is in development, its predecessor still has solid capabilities when it comes to off-road performance. It turns out that the Navara’s predecessor has great potential for track performance improvements. You read that correctly.
The gallery below shows the Navara R truck, also known as the Navara R. This modified truck has many performance and visual enhancements. The exterior is modified with a complete custom body kit that includes wider wheel arches and new bumper extensions and side skirts. Although the interior is mostly unchanged, there are new Kenwood infotainment systems and digital instrument clusters.
The hood is the most significant upgrade for this Navara. A tuned Nissan GT-R-sourced, 4.1-liter twin-turbo V6 motor with Syvecs control unit provides a powerful peak output of 1,000 horsepower. The VR41 engine is a GT-R engine of 3.8-liter displacement with an increase to 4.1 liters. Dodson Motorsport, New Zealand has developed a dual-clutch transmission that reaches all four wheels.
Although we don’t know the speed of this Navara, it is likely to be among the fastest pickup trucks on the planet. This project is also the first to convert a GT-R into a Navara. The suspension was completely redesigned with the original GT-R subframes and KW V4 Racing Coilover suspension. The truck uses custom BBS 20 inch wheels instead of the 16-inch factory wheels. The brakes of RC6 or RC4 Alcon provide stopping power.
The entire project was completed by UK-based SB Motorsport. The speedy Navara was commissioned by Steve Baggsy, a Drifting Machine. We might be able to see it in action at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
