1000-HP Yenko Camaro is a Bowtie-Badged Demon KillerYou could add a 1,000-horsepower engine to your Camaro SS for a little extra money.

Chevrolet displayed yesterday its SEMA-bound Camaro SS, which was barely modified and brightly colored. Ho hum. Although some may like the new “Shock” paint job, it doesn’t compare to the Camaro pictured above: Specialty Vehicle Engineering’s 1,000-horsepower (745 kilowatts) Yenko Stage II Camaro. This muscle car is a beast.

This Camaro has a 6.8-liter supercharged V8 engine that is LT-1-based. Specialty Vehicle Engineering custom-built the unit. It adds 155 horses (115kW) to Stage I Camaro and 350 horsepower (260kW) to factory Camaro ZL1.

The Camaro 1000-hp Camaro is built from the bones of either a Camaro 2SS or 1LE with a 2SS package. It also comes with factory features such as magnetic ride control, an electronically limited-slip differential and performance-tuned suspension. Also, it has a heavy-duty cooling package that includes an engine-oil cooler and dual outboard radiators. A transmission cooler and rear-differential cooler are included. The only way to reign in all 1,000 horses is with a six-speed manual.

This Camaro, however, will not be as common as the SS. According to the shop, only 25 examples of this custom Camaro will ever be made. Specialty Vehicle Engineering does not list a price for the Camaro in their brochure. However, considering that its 1,000-hp Corvette competitor costs more than $70,000 we do not expect it to be cheap.
