Fast fans still remember the Fast, even though it wasn’t shown on screen for very long.
How many cars have been featured in the entire Fast & Furious saga. These are the notable cars. Not the generic stuff that’s in the background. But, honestly, even some of those “extra” cars can be quite sweet if you look closely. This ‘Vette is one of the most iconic cars in existence. You can get it.
You can bid on it at Volocars.com. They currently have this Corvette ready for an online auction that starts April 14. It’s a 1963 Corvette Grand Sport reproduction that was used in Fast Five. However, it wasn’t the one that fell off the cliff. It is believed to be one of three ‘Vettes that survived filming and served as a hero vehicle for some close-up shots with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and others. According to the listing, it is the one that the actors used.
The car looks absolutely stunning in the photos. You can see many more photos at the listing, including green-screen shots taken during filming. Mongoose Motorsports built the car. Although it looks like a Corvette, it was actually built on a custom tube chassis with C4 Corvette suspension. The engine is a 5.7-liter V8 crate engine by GM Performance. It produces 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts). The automatic transmission transmits power to the rear wheels and everything looks functional.
It’s not the 1963 Grand Sport. Younger readers may think that this is a modified Corvette for the film, but the original C2 Grand Sport was a wild car, down to its vented hood, spider-eye rear end, and vented hood. Only a few were produced in roadster and coupe versions. They were designed to compete with the Shelby Cobra race cars. While a real car is worth millions, quality replicas such as this one can fetch serious cash. Mongoose Motorsports is authorized by GM to make Grand Sport replicas. They are listed on the company website for “under $100k”.
According to the description of the auction, the transportation coordinator purchased the car after filming was completed. The car remained in the collector of the transportation coordinator until it was sold to the current seller. It will be available online starting April 14-21 and is expected to fetch between $95,000 to $100,000 once the digital hammer drops.
