This beautiful blue ‘Stang, in perfect condition and in the highest grossing at Mecum Auctions’ Chicago sale, sold for $245k.
This Mustang Bolss 429 Fastback was manufactured on September 18, 1969. It is one of 499 cars made for the 1970MY. It was sold new at Boyce Ranson Ford, Conover, North Carolina. It is a 47-year old car with only 25,000 miles (40.033 kilometers) and the “concours restoration” make it even more desirable. These attributes were enough to allow the pony car in Grabber Blue with a white interior cabin to sell for $245,000 at Mecum Auctions’ Chicago sale.
This particular ‘Stang has a lot of great features, including the original and NOS parts that were used in the restoration, the Drag Pack, and the four-speed transmission which was linked to the original Boss 429 engine with 375 horsepower.
Mecum Auctions also sold this Mustang during their October 6-8 auction in Windy City. Total sales were $10.5 million. Here’s the complete list of top 10:
The classic Mustang continues to be highly sought-after, but the same cannot be said for the current model. After a dramatic drop in sales last month of 32 percent to 6,429 cars, Ford is idle production at Flat Rock Assembly Plant. The Blue Oval company had enough cars for 89 days by September’s end, which is about 30 days more than industry analysts consider acceptable.
The lower incentives Ford is offering recently could be one reason why sales are falling. The year-to-date sales have fallen 9.3 percent to 87.258 cars, compared to January-September 2015.
