Drag racing is for kids!
Although the new minivans from Chrysler are capable of carrying people, they are not very fast. But, Abimelec Designs says that things were different in the past. Chrysler offered turbocharged minivans for a short time in the 1980s.
Be careful though, the only upgrades that were mentioned for the sporty people carrier included a turbocharger and a manual gearbox. This rendering captures the essence of the minivan concept, but takes it to the next level. Although the post doesn’t reveal the exact minivan model, we believe it to be a Voyager.
Many modifications were needed to transform the Plymouth from a docile family car into a big tire barnstormer. This is a rendering, but we believe the most difficult part of the job is the bodywork. The car has a massive weight reduction and super narrow tires at the rear. Although it’s a little odd compared to the NHRA’s setup, it’s not unattainable.
After the bodywork was completed, the car received new shoes and a four-cylinder Mitsubishi 4G63 engine, which is one of the most luxurious motors ever made by the Japanese automaker. Abimelec says the 4G63 is part of the family, as the original minivan had a 4G54. The upgraded Mitsubishi heart will likely allow for more headroom to accommodate future performance upgrades.
What do you think about this totally insane minivan idea? If you could do the school run straight to the drag strip, would you be more inclined?
