Apart from being one of only 164 made in the world, it is also one of five original examples that was sold in the U.K. in 1986. This disestablished Group B racing, which ended a long and successful streak for Audi in World Rally Championship (WRC) and eventually led to the end of the quattro.

The car left the factory in April 1986 and was first serviced at 5,833 miles in November 1986. The odometer showed that the vehicle had covered approximately 30,000 miles before it was sold in 1997. It was then transferred to another owner in 2006, where it was put into a long-term storage.

It was sold at the RM Sotheby’s London Auction, September 7, 2016. This is the highest-priced Audi quattros sold at auction.
