According to the auction house, the car could fetch between EUR90,000.00 and EUR150,000 ($100.845 to $168.075).
The Rijkspolitie, which was the Dutch state police, operated between 1945 and 1996. It used a wide range of cars throughout its existence, from Citroen H vans to Alfa Romeos. Most of the models, however, were Porsches. There were 356 convertibles and 916 Targas. The Rijkspolitie purchased more than 500 vehicles in total. However, only a handful of these cars are still available today.
Some cars were used by the Algemene Verkeers Dienst, a special traffic unit that was established in 1962. This particular car was one of them. According to the odometer, the 1989 Porsche 912 Carrera 3.2 Targa Rijkspolitie ALEX 12.24 was in service between 1989 and 1991. It has driven a total of 105201 km (65,368 mi) since that time.
After being completely restored by Porsche Centro Assistenza Pordenone in Italy, it’s in excellent condition today. The 911 Targa police car will come with the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, all documentation including registration papers and invoices.
The 911 Targa has all the police equipment. This includes suits and helmets as well as a wooden box that is mounted in the back to replace the rear seats. The AVD cars all had this box. It contained two warning triangles and a towing cable, tape measure handcuffs, a wheel wrench, spare light bulbs, and other miscellaneous equipment. The 911 Targa, like all AVD cars has additional electrical wiring for radio communication system. It also features dual rearview mirrors and a passenger-side mirror.
The car is essentially as original as it can be, and that’s thanks to its current owner, an Rijkspolitie enthusiast. He was able track down all the missing parts, so the buyer will basically get the entire car.
The car will go up for sale without reserve from October 7, during “The Zoute Sale”. It is expected to sell for EUR90,000.- EUR150,000 ($100.845 to $168.075)
