A time capsule from the 1990s? Literally.
We have seen car lovers of all types emotionally attach themselves to their cars. We’ve never seen anything quite like this BMW740i (E38), made in 1997. It’s a rare find, and despite being older than many cars on the roads today, it’s still in pristine condition. This is due to the “an air capsule that mechanically circulates air.”
This is what the current owner of this car says in an online advertisement published on ebay Germany. The car was also claimed to have been owned initially by a 1927-born woman, but this was only for a short time. The car was eventually moved to Gogolin Slaski, Poland. It currently shows a mere 158 miles (255 km) on its odometer.
The 740i has a smooth 4.4-liter V8 underneath. It produces 282 horsepower (210 Kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (405 Newton-meters). These numbers are not impressive by modern standards, but they are still respectable. The V8 is coupled to a 5-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.
Photos of the car show its new condition. According to the seller, the luxury sedan built in the 1990s is still in its original condition.
This sounds almost too good to true. The problem is that the car is located in Poland, and the seller will ship it within Europe’s borders. There is no shipping available to North America or Japan.
Oh, and the price. The 7 Series’ current price is EUR48.350 after just three days and 39 bids. This represents approximately $51,900 at current exchange rates. There are eight days left.
