BMW has updated information on the 2011X3.

The redesigned model is elegant and dramatic and bears a strong resemblance with the X5 as well as the X1. A prominent grille, stronger character lines, and distinctive T-shaped taillights are some of the notable styling details.

The interior of the previous model was sloppy and dated. However, the 2011 X3 is a luxurious cabin. The X3 features high-quality materials and an improved design. It also has a large boot volume of 550 Liters (19.4 cubic foot). Thanks to the 40/20/40 folding rear seat, it can be extended to 1,600 liters (56.5 cubes).

GPS navigation with an 8.8-inch screen, dual-zone automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof are some of the options. An automatic tailgate is also available. You also have the option of a Head-up Display and Adaptive Cornering Headlights. There is also a Top View rear-view camera and ConnectedDrive, which allows for “unrestricted internet access within the vehicle” and “comprehensive integration with the Apple iPhone and other smartphone.”

A variety of engines will be available under the hood. The xDrive20d is powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 135 kW (1184 PS / 181 hp), and 380 Nm (281 lb-ft). The xDrive20d can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 210 km/h (135 mph). The 20d is efficient in terms of fuel consumption, consuming an average of 5.6 L/100 km (42 MPG US) and emitting 149 grams CO2 per mile.

The xDrive28i’s petrol engine is a 3.0-liter six cylinder petrol with 190 kW (258 PS / 255 hp), and 310 Nm (229 lbft) of torque. The xDrive28i’s acceleration is good, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h (130 MPH). The upside is that combined fuel economy of 9.0 l/100km (26 MPG US) and CO2 emissions of 210 g/km are both positives.

If power is what you are looking for, the range-topping xDrive35i is a good choice. The turbocharged three-liter six-cylinder petrol engine produces 225 kW (306 PS/302 hp) as well as 400 Nm (295 Lb-ft). The crossover can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and has a top speed of 245 km/h (152 MPH). The eight-speed automatic with Stop/Start technology is backed up by 8.8 l/100 km (26.7 mpg US). CO2 emissions are 204 grams/kilometer.

BMW has gone to great lengths in order to increase fuel efficiency since all models come with xDrive (all wheel drive). Engineers installed brake energy regeneration and EPS Electric Power Steering as well as demand-controlled ancillary parts and low-rolling resistance tires.

These changes may dilute your driving experience slightly, but BMW offers a sports-automatic transmission (with shift paddles at the steering wheel), Performance control, and Dynamic Damper control, with Normal, Sport, and Sport+ modes.
