The car will come with a choice of a 1.2-liter WT petrol or a DDIS diesel engine. Full specs indicate that it will be available for sale at launch. The four-cylinder 16-valve petrol engine produces 93 horsepower (69kW/94 PS) as well as 118 Nm (87ft-lb). The direct injection diesel, also a four-cylinder 16-valve petrol unit, produces 74 horsepower (55kW/75 PS) and up 190 Nm (135 ft-lb). The diesel comes only with the manual, but petrol buyers have the option of a manual or five-speed manual transmission.
The car measures 3,850 millimeters in length and is 1,695 mm wide by 1,510 mm high (151.57″, 66.73″, 59.45″) and has a wheelbase measuring 2,430 mm (95.67″. The car is 2.5 percent longer and has a 40mm longer wheelbase. This gives the car more legroom as well as more cargo space. This should not affect the Swift’s small-car charm.

The car’s kerb weight is still very low at 945 kg to 1110kg depending on the transmission and other options. The relatively lightweight petrol engine and manual transmission can get the three- or five-door cars to 100 km/h in 12.3 seconds. The diesel takes 0.4 seconds longer than the automatic transmission, and the automatic takes 1.2 seconds. The manual transmission cars can travel at 165 km/h while the automatic models reach 160 hp.
A start/stop system will be added to petrol engines with manual transmissions in order to improve fuel efficiency. Fuel economy for the petrol engine ranges between 5.0- and 5.5-liters per 100km (47 to 43 MPG), while that of the diesel engine is 4.2 liters per 100 km (56 MPG). This results in CO2 emissions that range from 109 to 126% per mile.
The 2011 Suzuki Swift will be on the market by the end this year.
