The 5.5-liter biturbo motor produces 518 horsepower (386 kW/ 525 PS) as well as 516 lbft (699 Nm). The car is equipped with a seven-speed Speedshift MCT transmission that allows it to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 4.4 seconds. It can also reach electronically limited speeds of 155 MPH (250 km/h).

The optional AMG Performance Package increases output to 550 horsepower (410 kW/ 558 PS) or 590 lbft (799 Nm). The extra power allows for a faster sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. The top speed is 186 MPH (299 km/h).

Engineers installed AMG adaptive suspension with Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes, a wider front axle and revised electro-hydraulic steering systems. They also added high-performance, cross-drilled brakes to make the super saloon a true sports car.

The 2012 CLS63 AMG will be available in the United States, although no pricing information has been released.
